Scope of Work
As the General Contractor for the Washington Square Water Conservation Project, we led a full site transformation with a strong focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility. Our team managed the demolition and safely transported surplus Fed 1 RCRS hazardous waste soils to a certified Class I disposal facility, ensuring full compliance with environmental standards. We delivered high quality concrete flatwork, installed an efficient irrigation system to support long term water conservation, and completed sustainable landscaping and subgrade drainage work. The project also included the careful removal, restoration, and installation of custom wood benches, along with detailed site improvements and low VOC painting. Throughout the process, we collaborated with an on site arborist to preserve and protect existing trees, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable construction practices.
Cultural Relevance
Washington Square Park is one of San Francisco’s oldest public parks, established in the mid 19th century as a central gathering place in the North Beach neighborhood. It has long served as a hub for the city’s vibrant Italian American community and a venue for cultural celebrations, political rallies, and everyday social life. The park’s location across from Saints Peter and Paul Church famous as the wedding site of Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio adds to its iconic status. Its preservation honors not only the architectural and historical legacy of the neighborhood but also the diverse, multi generational communities that have shaped San Francisco’s identity. The recent improvements reinforce Washington Square Park’s role as a cherished cultural and civic landmark for present and future generations.
